Scott Deacon
BDS MSc MFDS.RCPS MOrth (Intercollegiate) FDS(Orth).RCPS
 

Scott Deacon was appointed the Lead Consultant for Cleft Lip and Palate orthodontic services in the South West UK in 2005.  He is currently the Training Programme Director and Course Director of the Bristol based postgraduate specialist training programme for Orthodontics in the South West England.   He is also the Project Lead for the CRANE Database based at the Royal College of Surgeons, London.  This registers patients with cleft anomalies in England and Wales.

He has lectured in specialist areas to many different kinds of professionals including dentists, specialist orthodontists, dental therapist/nurses/hygienists and training undergraduate dentists.  The areas include:

  • Aesthetic Smile

  • Treatment of missing teeth

  • Cleft Lip and Palate

  • Tooth brushing with manual and powered/electric brushes

  • Facial development

  •  Lingual appliances

 

He is a Senior Clinical Lecturer at University of Bristol and has examined at the Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians Glasgow Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh, University of Bristol and the University of Cardiff.

He has published internationally and co-authored a chapter in a American textbook on Assessment of Orthodontic Outcome in patients with clefts “Comprehensive Cleft Care” Losee and Kirschner published December 2008
